TRAVEL PROGRAMME

Best of both worlds: a whisky adventure trip in Scotland

Ullapool- Troon 18-25 May 2024

This trip offers you ultimate opportunity to combine longer stretches of adventurous sailing with visits to Scotland's most beautiful islands (and its distilleries), of course accompanied by an experienced whisky expert who will be happy to share his knowledge of Scotland and its world-famous distilleries.

On Saturday guests will board Thalassa at 4pm. Cabins will be allocated and there will be time to explore the ship and unpack luggage. There will also be a welcome from the captain and the crew will show their guests around on board.

On Sunday, the ship leaves for Tarbert, the largest town on Harris (Outer Hebrides) of which the ship is likely to moor at the local ferry pier.

On Monday morning, Harris distillery will be visited. To read more about this particular distillery, please visit this website: https://harrisdistillery.com

After the visit, the ship sets her sails towards Skye, Loch Harport.

On Tuesday morning, a visit of the famous distillery Talisker is on the agenda. Talisker is Isle Of Skye's oldest whisky distillery still operating today. For those unfamiliar with the wonderful world of whisky: Talisker is a typical Scotch Single Malt whisky with a smoky, peaty flavour. Would you like to know a little more in advance? https://www.malts.com/en-gb/distilleries/talisker

After visiting Talisker, we sail to Tiree, the westernmost island of the Inner Hebrides, known for its beautiful white-sand beaches and relatively high temperatures.

The next day (Wednesday) will be the crossing from Tiree to Port Ellen. Port Ellen is a charming village with pretty whitewashed terraces.

The distillery at Port Ellen was closed in 1983 and converted into a large malting plant. Since then, the name Port Ellen has become known as one of Scotland's great "lost distilleries.

The next morning (Thursday) we will visit Islay. In the afternoon, we sail on to Campbeltown, a town on the Kintyre peninsula in south-west Scotland. Campbeltown is known, among other things, for its Campbeltown single malt whiskies.

The next day, the whisky guide will be happy to accompany guests to Springbank or Glen Scotia Distillery. In the afternoon, the ship departs for the final destination of this trip, Troon ( which is where the world-famous Feis Ile almost begins).

On Saturday, guests will leave the ship before 10am

The above program depends on wind and weather, the opening hours/days of the various distilleries and sights to visit. It is possible that this program is deviated from, the purpose of the above program is mainly to give an impression of what our guests can expect from this trip.
