The travel sum is inclusive...

• 10 overnight stays on board in a double cabin with private shower;
• all meals during the trip (breakfast, lunch and dinner);
• Non-alcoholic drinks with meals (coffee, tea, milk and water);

Not included...

• all other non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks (beer, wine and whisky);
• entry tickets for visits to the various distilleries;
• Extra excursions ashore. The costs for the different excursions are estimated at approx. € 100, - per person in total. (Subject to change, program is due to changes determined by the whisky expert and the guests. Participation is not mandatory).

The sailing voyage begins and ends in Scotland. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to Scotland. This is NOT included in the price.

Whisky expedition

During this whisky expedition, we set sail from Scrabster to Oban, with multiple ports and sightseeing stops in between. On Wednesday 9 August we embark on our journey. On Saturday 19 August, you will set foot on land again. Together we explore the most beautiful places and discover multiple distilleries. We believe sailing is at its best when we let the wind and whisky guide us. As a result, when and if we visit certain harbours and distilleries is weather dependable. In any case, this journey won’t be one you will easily forget. We will make sure to give you the best impression of life on and off board. And of course, serve the best whiskies.

Ports and distilleries along our journey

After Scrabster, we leave for Scapa Bay, at the Orkney Islands. There, we will visit Scapa and Highland Park for the first whiskies on land. It is possible to explore the Orkney (a bus tour may be available), after which we sail to Stromness with those who want to. From Stromness we will sail to Tarbert on the island of Harris. Here you will find the Harris Distillery. It is possible to travel by bus (if available) to Abhainn Deargh on the island Lewis. The astonishing Skye en Loch Harport are up ahead. On Skye you will find the infamous Talisker and the Torabaigh Distillery. The latter is reached from Armadale, at the other side of Skye. You will find Torabaigh at some distance from Armadale. Skye offers sights to behold and divine whiskies. From Skye, weather permitting, we set sail for Malaig, Tobermory and eventually our final destination Oban.

The gift of whisky and nature

Two worlds collide in this journey. The astounding nature and views only the Hebrides have to offer collide with Scotland’s world famous whisky. All the while you will be out on the water, enjoying freshly cooked meals, prepared with love. What’s more, your personal cabin comes equipped with a private shower and sink.

Travel programme

On board in Scrabster, Thurso

On Wednesday 9 August you will set foot on board at 4 pm, in the Scrabster harbour. A train ride from the Inverness airport to Thurso takes about 4 hours. Another travel tip is to take the bus from (and to) Edinburgh. Especially when flying, this airport is advantageous. As the northernmost port on the Scottish mainland, Scrabster is of great importance to Scottish fisheries. The place is known as a ferry port to the Orkney Islands.

Scapa Bay

On Thursday 10 August we leave for Scapa Bay. The northern part of this headland is occupied by Orkney's capital, Kirkwall. The southern part overlooks Scapa Bay, a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The main natural feature here is a beautiful white beach that is a haven of tranquility. We will visit the Highland Park Distillery which states the following on its website: “We’ve been crafting our award-winning whisky at the Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney, since 1798. Age, experience and tradition may define our whisky but it’s Orkney that sets it apart. Something magic happens here and the result is the wild harmony of flavours found in our whisky.”

Stromness

After exploration of Scapa Bay, we sail towards Stromness. Stromness is a village on Mainland, situated by a natural harbor on the southwest side of the island. Stromness was originally called Hamnavoe, which means "safe harbour". It was often a last stop for Vikings, merchants and sailors before crossing the Atlantic. Stromness is a great place for outdoor activities such as diving and cycling. For art and culture buffs there is the Pier Arts Center as well as prehistoric sites such as the Ring of Brodgar and the Standing Stones of Stenness.

Tarbert, Harris

Harris is yet another fantastic island for excellent whiskies. The Harris Distillery, also known as “The Social Distillery” distills wonderful spirits in the heart of the Outer Hebrides. In addition, they are the makers of Isle Of Harris Gin and 'The Hearach' Single Malt Whisky. Bus transport permitting, the Abhainn Dearg Distillery on Lewis might also be visited, the first single malt whiskey from an Outer Hebrides distillery since 1829.

Loch Harport, Skye

Loch Harport (and more particularly Carbost) is a big draw in the summer months thanks to the presence of the Talisker Distillery. Along with the local pub The Old Inn, it’s also one of the main employers in the village. Talisker is a world famous distillery belonging to the Diageo group. Talisker was the very first malt whisky produced on the Isle of Skye, where it has been a household name since 1830. The unique arrangement of the boilers gives Talisker its unique character.

Armadale, Skye

Also visitable on Skye is the Torabhaig Distillery. In the evening you can visit Mallaig. Mallaig is at the end of the famous West Highland Railway and the romantic Road to the Isles. It is a bustling fishing town where loads of fresh fish arrive every day in the colourful harbor.

Tobermory

Tobermory is a charming little place that begs to be discovered. The brightly coloured houses are close to the waterfront and there is a range of independent businesses, including a chocolate shop, bakery, candle maker, silversmith, art gallery and potter.

Oban

After visiting the Tobermory Distillery we sail to Oban, the final destination of this trip. On Saturday 19 August, the captain and his crew will say goodbye to the guests at no later than 10 am.
