WHISKY SAILING CRUISES 2019

Whisky sailing cruise 1  May 18 - May 25

Start: Oban, Scotland, 14.00, Saturday May 18, 2019
End: Troon, Scotland, 10.00, Saturday Nay 25, 2019

Price: € 1,200 p.p.
Price is based on the division of 2 persons into a double cabin. If you want to book the cabin for 1 person, the travel sum is € 2.150, -.  

The travel sum is inclusive:
- 7 overnight stays on board in a double cabin with private shower;
- all meals during the trip (breakfast, lunch and dinner);
- Non-alcoholic drinks with meals (coffee, tea, milk and water);
- 1 whiskytasting on board, accompanied by a whiskey expert.

Not included:
- all other non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks (beer, wine and whisky);
- entry tickets for visits to the various distilleries;
- Extra excursions ashore. The costs for the different excursions amount to approx. € 100, - per person in total (participation is not mandatory).

The sailing voyage begins and ends in Scotland. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to Scotland. This is NOT included in the price

Day 1 - Saturday - From 14:00 you can embark in the harbour of Troon on board of the Thalassa. After you have been introduced to the ship, the crew and the other guests, the ship leaves around 17.00 in the direction of Islay. At night we arrive in the harbour of Bruichladdich.

Day 2 - Sunday - Bruichladdich - Port Ellen 

Day 3 - Monday - Port Ellen

Day 4 - Tuesday - Port Ellen - Jura

Day 5 - Wednesday - Jura - Ballycastle

Day 6 - Thursday - Giant Causeway/Ballycastle - Campbelltown

Day 7 - Friday - Arran- Troon

Day 8 - Saturday - between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. the guests disembark in Troon.

WHISKY SAILING CRUISES 2018

Whisky sailing cruise 1 (Islay Festival) May 25 - June 3 SORRY, THIS TRIP IS FULLY BOOKED

 

Start: Troon, Scotland, 14.00, Friday May 25, 2018
End: Troon, Scotland, 10.00, Sunday June 3, 2018

Day 1: Troon- Port Ellen/Islay
The Thalassa departs from the port of Troon in Scotland. Boarding begins at 14.00. After a warm welcome on board from the crew, meet your fellow passengers and get to know the ship before setting sail at 17.00 for the Isle of Islay. Arrive late in the evening, Port Ellen. Spend your first night on board the Thalassa in the village’s pretty secluded harbour.

Day 2: Port Ellen – Bruichladdich
Go on shore to visit the Port Ellen Maltings and Lagavulin distillery open days. Later in the day, set sails and head for the Rhinns of Islay. Spend the night of the distillery village of Bruichladdic.

Day 3: Bruichladdich – Port Ellen
In the morning, moor up at Bruichladdich pier. After a pleasant coastal walk to Port Charlotte arrive back at the Bruichladdich distillery for a 10.00 whisky tasting and a comprehensive Open Day tour and warehouse experience. At the end of the afternoon, find your sea legs back and set all sail for Port Ellen, coming to harbour some time mid-evening.

Day 4: Port Ellen
Spend the morning visiting some of Islay’s world famous coastal distilleries such as Laphroaig,Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Bowmore. Spend your next night on board in Port Ellen’s beautiful harbour.

Day 5: Jura
Explore more of the distilleries on the historic whisky island of Islay’s. In the afternoon, head for the Isle of Jura coming to anchor early evening in the island’s beautiful bay.

Day 6: Port Ellen
Up with the larks to visit the legendary distilleries of Jura and of Bowmore, located just a short bus ride away. Return to the Thalassa at midday. Raise anchor and sail back to Port Ellen. Spend the night in the harbour.

Day 7: Bunnahabhain
Go ashore and take the bus to the Kilchoman distillery. Return to the ship and set sail for Bunnahabhain. Spend the night under anchor in Bunnahabhain bay.

Day 8: Port Ellen
Spend the first half of the day visiting the Bunnahabhain distillery Open Day. Mid-afternoon, return to the Thalassa for the sail back to Port Ellen for your last night stay in the village’s picturesque harbour.

Day 9: Troon
Your last sailing day. In the morning visit the Ardbeg distillery for the final whisky tasting and tour of your Whisky Sailing Cruise. In the afternoon, time to set all sails and head the Thalassa back to berth in the Port of Troon. Spend your last night on board the Thalassa.

Day 10: Troon
After a refreshing night’s sleep and a substantial breakfast, disembark ship at 10.00 hrs. in Troon.

Whisky sailing cruise 2 June 10 - June 16 SORRY, THIS TRIP IS FULLY BOOKED

Start: Stromness, Orkney, 20.00, Sunday June 10, 2018 
End: Oban, Saturday, 10.00, Saturday June 16, 2018 Oban

Day 1: Stromness/Orkney
Your voyage starts in Stromness on the Orkney Isles. Embarkation begins at 20.00. After a warm welcome on board, meet your fellow passengers, get to know the ship and spend your first night relaxing on board.

Day 2: Stornoway/Lewis
Setting out from Stromness, your first stop after a sail of about 15 hours is the island of Lewis. Spend the night at anchor in Stornoway harbour watching the resident seals.

Day 3: Tarbert/South Harris
At the end of the morning, set sail for Tarbert, the largest community on the island of Harris and a particularly lovely fishing village. Spend the night at anchor in Tarbert harbour overlooked by unique heritage and flanked by beautiful rugged mountain scenery.

Day 4: Skye
Go ashore to visit the first commercial distillery on the island of Harris and only the second on the Western Isles. After lunch, head for the Isle of Skye, second largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides. Skye is renowned for its spectacular scenery and many impressive castle ruins. Spend the night at anchor a little out from Talisker.

Day 5: Tobermory
After a morning visit to the world-famous Tallisker distiller, hoist the sails and head for Tobermory, capital of the Isle of Mull, where you spend the night at anchor. Tobermory is  a colourful, picture-postcard fishing village with a bustling town centre and lots of cosy pubs

Day 6: Oban
Visit Tobermory for your final island malt whisky distillery before heading to Oban, end point of the cruise. With its narrow winding streets and picturesque bay with fishing boats, yachts and ferries bobbing on the water, Oban is rightly considered the pearl of the Western Highlands. Spend one last night on board the Thalassa.

Day 7: Oban
A final breakfast before disembarkation (08.00 to 10.00)

Day 1: Bangor
Your voyage starts in the small harbour of Bangor in Northern Ireland. Embarkation begins at 20.00. After a warm welcome on board, meet your fellow passengers, get to know the ship and spend the rest of evening and your first night relaxing on board.

Day 2: Ballycastle
The following morning leave Bangor and sail along the scenic Irish coast to the beautiful seaside town of Ballycastle. Spend the night berthed in the harbour.

Day 3: Port Ellen
In the morning, visit the not-to-be-missed Giant’s Causeway on the fabulous Antrim coast. A UNESCO World Heritage site 1986, this bizarre rock formation is made up of over 40,000 hexagonal-shaped stones. Take a short bus ride to the Old Bushmills Distillery to see how Irish whiskey is crafted. In the afternoon, sail across the North Channel to the Island of Islay. Moor up for the night in the beautiful secluded harbour in Port Ellen.

Day 4: Islay
Today is a shore day. Drop anchor and go ashore to explore this  historic whisky island and visit some of the world’s best known distilleries. Laphroaig, Lagavullin and Ardbeg are all within reasonable walking distance from the ship and the Old Bowmore distillery is a short bus ride away. Spend the night back on board in Port Ellen.

Day 5: Campbeltown
In the morning leave Port Ellen and sail to Campeltown to visit the either the Springbank or the Glen Scotia distillery, possible even both.

Day 6: Troon
After breakfast, set all sails for enchanting Arran. Dropping anchor, visit the island’s only distillery before heading back to Troon. Spend your last night onboard in Troon harbour.

Day 7: Troon
After a refreshing night’s sleep and a substantial breakfast, disembark ship at 10.00 uur in Troon.

Cruise description:

From 14.00 hrs guests arrive on board in Troon. After you have got acquainted with the ship, the crew and the other guests we leave for Arran the same afternoon. Here we visit the Arran distillery. Sunday we continue our sailing trip to Campbeltown, where we will spend the night. In Campbeltown we take a look at the distilleries of Springbank and Glen Scotia. Monday we are in Ballycastle, where we have the opportunity to go to Giant’s Causeway by bus. Tuesday we go to Port Ellen on Islay. On Wednesday we sail to Jura, depending on the weather and wind, or anchor at Bunnahabhain, where we visit the local distillery. On Thursday we will be heading for Tobermory. On Friday we sail to Oban, where you can visit the distillery on your own. Saturday morning you leave the ship after a tasty breakfast.
